Hopefully after your session you will feel more relaxed. You may experience a slight reaction within the 24 hours after a session so there are a few things to be aware of so you know what to expect.
During the body’s natural healing process after a therapy session toxins and waste are released. This can lead to mild symptoms, severe reactions are very rare. These are all positive signs that your body has responded to your therapy session and is trying to balance itself.
You may experience:
- A heightened relaxed state and a deeper sleep
- Increased thirst
- Increased urine flow and or bowel movements (try leaning forward whilst you are on the toilet as this then encourages the bladder to empty fully)
- A slight drop in body temperature or an increase in perspiration
- Mild headache
- Cold and Flu symptoms
- Increased energy or tiredness & lethargy
- Any existing condition maybe more symptomatic
If you do experience any of these, please do let me know at your next appointment.
You can help your body’s natural healing process and ease any symptoms by trying to follow the below suggestions:
- Drink plenty of still water
- Avoid toxins like alcohol, caffeine, tobacco and drugs for at least 12 hours
- Eat light natural easily digested foods
- Have as much rest and relaxation (as possible)
- Do not undertake any strenuous exercise
- Do not operate any heavy machinery
- Avoid driving for long distances

Generally I recommend not considering massage until 2 weeks post birth have passed.
Please do contact me regarding your birth experience and I will be able to advise you when would be best to come for an appointment.
Please note , you will have to wait longer than 2 weeks if you have had a cesarean section. Once this time has passed, I can recommend some excellent techniques which will aid your recovery and some techniques that you can administer yourself.
Please get in touch for more information.
If you are about to have a hysterectomy there are many different massages that are suitable.
